The Team Shoot

Last season Emily photographed the Lynchburg Youth Hockey Association's 8U Coyotes: every player on the roster, then the whole team together. The photographs on this page are from that day.

For your program it works the same way. Emily comes to you, photographs each player individually and the team as a group, and the shoot is free. No session fee, nothing collected up front, nothing for the program to budget.

It's directed the whole way through, the same as her senior and family sessions. Players are told where to stand and what to do with the stick, so nobody freezes up and the photographs look like the kids, not like picture day.

For Parents

What Parents Get

After the shoot, parents get a link to a private online gallery: their player's individual portraits and the team shots, ready to order from a phone.

The pricing is simple on purpose. $15 for a digital photo. $20 for a print, whether that's an 8x10, a 5x7, a 4x6, or a set of eight wallets, and the digital file comes with it. Sizes above 8x10 are available a la carte in the same gallery, and every print is made by a professional photo lab, not a kiosk.

How It Works

Step by Step

Five steps from the first message to prints in hand, so coaches and parents always know what comes next.

01

Reach Out

Tell Emily the sport, the age group, how many players are on the roster, and where the team practices or plays. She reads every message herself and replies within 48 hours.

02

Pick a Date

Choose a day that already works for the team, like a practice night, so nobody makes an extra trip. Emily plans the rest: where to set up, the order players come through, and how long it takes.

03

The Shoot

Every player is photographed individually, then the whole team together. It's directed the whole way, so even the youngest players know exactly where to stand. There's no charge to the program for any of it.

04

The Gallery

Parents receive a link to a private online gallery with their player's portraits and the team shots. They choose what they want and order right there, from a phone or a laptop.

05

Prints, Finished

Digital files download from the gallery. Prints are made by a professional photo lab on archival paper, color-matched to the edited file, and checked before they go out.

The Lab

Why the Prints Come From a Professional Lab

Emily Kathryn Photography prints through a professional photo lab rather than a retail kiosk. Here's what that changes for a $20 team print.

The paper

Professional lab

Archival photographic paper made for portraits, rated to hold its color for decades in a frame.

Drugstore kiosk

Whatever is loaded in the machine that day. Made for speed, not for a wall.

The color

Professional lab

Printers calibrated to Emily's edited files, so skin tones and jersey colors come out the way she approved them.

Drugstore kiosk

Automatic correction on every file. Skin tones warm up, jersey colors shift, and nobody chose either one.

The crop

Professional lab

Each print is sized and cropped by Emily. The whole team stays in the frame.

Drugstore kiosk

The machine trims whatever doesn't fit the paper, usually a head or a stick blade at the edge.

The check

Professional lab

A person inspects every print before it leaves the lab.

Drugstore kiosk

No one looks at it before you do.

The cost

Professional lab

$20 for any size up to 8x10, with the digital file included. Five dollars more than the file alone, and the print arrives finished.

Drugstore kiosk

Less per sheet, once you've bought the $15 file and made the trip. What comes out is what you get.

What a Larger Print Looks Like at Home

This is Emily's son Owen, number 11 on the Coyotes, with his 16x20 mounted print. His player portrait, the team photo, the season, and his name and number on one board. It was his Christmas present. He loves it, and it hangs on his bedroom wall.

Sizes above 8x10, like this one, are a la carte in the same gallery and come from the same professional lab.

FAQ

Questions From Coaches and Parents

The shoot, the pricing, the gallery, and what happens to a print between the lab and your wall.

Ask Something Else
Is the team shoot really free?
Yes. There's no session fee and nothing for the coach, the program, or the league to pay. Emily photographs the whole roster at no charge, and parents buy only the photos they want from the online gallery afterward.
What do the photos cost parents?
$15 per digital photo, or $20 per print with the digital file included. A print can be an 8x10, a 5x7, a 4x6, or a set of eight wallets, all at the same $20. Sizes above 8x10 are available a la carte through the same gallery.
How do parents get the photos?
After the shoot, Emily builds a private online gallery with every player's individual portraits and the team shots. Parents get the link, pick their favorites, and order directly from the gallery. Digital files download from there, and prints follow once the lab has finished them.
Who makes the prints?
A professional photo lab, not a drugstore kiosk. Prints are made on archival photographic paper, color-matched to the edited file, and inspected by a person before they go out.
What does the coach have to do?
Pick the date and get the team there in uniform. Emily handles the rest, from directing the shoot to delivering the gallery and the orders.
Which sports and age groups?
Any sport, any age group, as long as there's a roster. Hockey, baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse, cheer, dance, swim, martial arts. The 8U Coyotes on this page are under eight, and the shoot is directed so even the youngest players know where to stand.
Where does Emily travel for team shoots?
Emily is based in Gretna and photographs teams across South-Central Virginia: Lynchburg, Forest, Danville, Chatham, Altavista, Smith Mountain Lake, and the towns in between. She comes to your rink, field, gym, or studio.
What should players wear?
Game uniforms, with the gear that tells the story: the stick, the glove, the ball, the skates. Clean jerseys and matching socks make the team shot read as one team. If you're unsure about anything, ask Emily when you book.
Can parents order larger prints or more than one?
Yes. Sizes above 8x10 are available a la carte in the gallery, and parents can order as many prints and digital files as they like. Grandparents included.
