Senior Portraits

The Experience

The Senior Experience

This isn't school picture day with better lighting. It's an editorial session built around you: your style, your personality, your year. We start with a planning conversation where I get to know you, and together we map out locations, outfits, and the feel you want.

On session day you'll bring three to five outfits, and we'll spend an hour or two at locations we picked together. I'll direct the whole way through, so there's never a moment where you're stuck wondering what comes next.

Two or three weeks later, you and your family come back to see the finished gallery, and we turn it into real things: framed artwork, an album, your digital files. Portraits you can hold, not just files on your phone.

Your Journey

Step by Step

Step 01

Consultation

We start with a relaxed conversation about you: your style, your ideas, what you're hoping for. It's where I get to know you, and where we plan the details together.

Step 02

Wardrobe Planning

We'll pick your outfits together: colors, accessories, all of it. You'll know every look works before session day even starts.

Step 03

Session Day

Show up, relax, and let me direct. I'll tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands, and when to just laugh while we move between locations we picked together.

Step 04

The Ordering Appointment

Two or three weeks later, you and your family see the finished gallery for the first time. Then we choose together: what becomes wall art, what goes in the album, and which digital files you keep.

Step 05

Heirloom Delivery

Your finished frames, senior album, and digital collection arrive ready to live with. The album is the piece your family will pull off the shelf for decades.

FAQ

Common Questions

When should I book my senior session?
Six months to a year before graduation is the sweet spot. That leaves room for planning, your wardrobe consultation, and a session date you actually want. Spring and early fall fill first, so reach out as soon as you know you're interested, even if graduation still feels far away.
How many outfits can I bring?
Most seniors bring three to five outfits: casual, dressy, and at least one that feels like it belongs in a magazine. We plan every look together during your wardrobe consultation, down to the accessories, so nothing is left to guesswork on session day.
Can I bring friends for a group session?
Yes. Friend and group sessions are some of the most fun we do. Bring your best friends or your teammates. Everyone gets individual time in front of the camera, and we photograph the group together too.
What locations do you shoot at?
All over South-Central Virginia: downtown Lynchburg brick, the Chatham countryside, gardens, farms, water. During our consultation we'll pick locations that fit your personality and the feel you're going for. I know where the light falls in this region, and we schedule around it.
How long until I see my photos?
Your retouched gallery is ready about two to three weeks after your session. You and your family will see the finished images together in person, and I'll walk you through choosing prints, an album, and your digital files.
Do you photograph senior boys?
Yes. Senior sessions are for everyone, and guys get the same attention to detail. Expect a relaxed session with clear direction the whole time, so nothing feels stiff or forced. The portraits look like him, at his most confident.
Do parents receive help choosing prints and albums?
Yes, that's exactly what the ordering appointment is for. You'll view the finished gallery in person, and I'll help with every decision: what to print big, which sizes fit your space, and how the senior album comes together. Nobody is left to sort through hundreds of files alone.
What does a senior portrait session cost?
Senior sessions begin at $799, and most families invest between $1,800 and $3,500 in total across digital files, wall art, and an album. You choose all of it after you've seen the finished portraits, so what you spend depends on what you want to keep.
What is the difference between a digital-only photographer and a boutique senior portrait experience?
A digital-only photographer hands you files, and that's the end of it. A boutique experience is guided from start to finish: wardrobe planning, direction at every location, and help choosing prints and an album once you've seen the gallery. Your digital files still come with it. The difference is you also end up with something to hang up and hold.

You're Only a Senior Once

Tell me who you are and what you're into, and I'll build the session around it. One senior year. One afternoon. A set of portraits your family will hold onto long after graduation.
